International Coastal Cleanup 2012

I attended a Photojournalism Workshop administered by SubicTimes.com and Lighthouse Marina Resort . My favorite part of the workshop is the photo walk, we were asked to snap some photos and to choose  just 2 to be presented to the panel for  critiquing in terms of technicality and of course the most important part is the story. After lunch I walked around the Lighthouse going to the other establishments along the beachfront and came up with this shot:
I selected this photo because it tells a story.  Lighthouse is the #1 Hotel in Subic Bay, it represents tourism and luxury, ironic to see a pile of garbage just a few steps away. Sad to day no matter how much these beachfront establishments will clean up their place, the cycle will just go on and on unless we learn the importance of dumping our garbage the proper way.
In line with this sad reality, on September 15,2012 the Lighthouse Marina Resort together with Metro Pacific Investment Corp, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority and other partners will represent Subic Bay, Olongapo and Zambales in joining the global movement with more than half-a-million people in 100 countries remove millions of pounds of trash from beaches and waterways all over the world.

And all of us are invited to participate!
