Piazza di Spagna, Spanish Steps and Piazza Trinita' dei Monti, Rome

Spanish Steps ( Scalinata della Trinità dei Monti in Italian) is one of the most famous attraction in Rome, Italy and is considered the widest staircase in Europe. It is located in between Piazza di Spagna at the base and Piazza Trinità dei Monti at the top (dominated by the famous Trinità dei Monti church).

from this picture you will see the famous  Barcaccia Fountain, the Spanish Steps in the middle and the Trinita dei Monte Chuch at the top
Barcaccia Fountain

The famous Barcaccia Fountain is a work of Pietro Bernini and his son, Gian Lorenzo.

Anywhere in Rome you will find water fountains. And yes they are drinkable, Ice cold drinking water 24 hours a day! One thing you don't need in Rome is a budget for mineral water! Smiley

Trinita Dei Monti

Trinita' Dei Monti church is also known as church of the Santissima Trinità dei Monti. The church and its surrounding area are the property of the French State.

 Obelisco Sallustiano

Obelisco Sallustiano, the one in front of Trinita' dei Monti Church is a Roman obelisk in imitation of Egyptian ones. The hieroglyphic inscription was copied from that on the obelisk in the Piazza del Popolo.

  1. I'm luvin' your Italian posts. Are these the steps where Claudine and Piolo were arguing in the movie Milan? :=)

Btw, can you really drink the water from the fountain? These are ancient fountains, right? So how can they make it sterile? Sorry dami kong tanong.

    1. Na curious tuloy ako saan nag argue is Claudine and Piolo sa movie.. Hehe I have watched it but can't recall if they have a scene in Spanish Steps! ;-) Yeah the water from the fountains all over Rome are safe to drink unless they put a notice that it is not like the Trevi Fountain kasi the tourist are throwing coins na sa fountain ginawa Nilang wishing fountain so syempre madumi na but almost all are drinkable. They have a centralized water processor, Kahit summer yung water coming from the fountain e super lamig and masarap sya!
